Seismic data translated into a musical score
PULSE · Witness · Planetary Inquiry
Listening to
the World.
Before there is music, there is vibration. Before there is choreography, there is motion. Technology can help us attend to what is already moving around—and beyond—us.
A deeper kind of listening
The Earth is
already moving.
Scientific data becomes sound. Sound meets the body. In that encounter, information becomes sensation—and listening becomes a form of attention, empathy, and stewardship.
PULSE · Seismic sonification
Hear the movement
beneath us.
Patterns of planetary movement become sound that musicians, dancers, and audiences can encounter together.
In PULSE, Company E works with Dr. Domenico Vicinanza to bring seismic sonification into artistic practice.
01 · Earth
Data becomes sensation.
Sonification lets us hear change that may be difficult to see. In performance, information becomes rhythm, atmosphere, and embodied response.
02 · More-than-human
Can technology help us listen beyond ourselves?
An emerging AI inquiry turns toward animal communication: exploring whether new tools can reveal pattern and relationship beyond the limits of human language.

PULSE · Plant bioelectricity
The living world has
its own song.
In collaboration with artist and technologist Mileece L’Anson, Company E brings the electrical activity of plants into PULSE. Mileece’s hardware and software translate plant bio-emissions into biologically driven sound—a process she calls aesthetic sonification.
Those signals become composition, atmosphere, and movement: a way of transforming activity within the living world into an experience human audiences can hear, feel, and move through.

Witness
Four cities. One night.Different worlds.
Kyiv. Geneva. London. Washington, DC. During the same hours of night, each city is heard. Data transformed by Dr. Domenico Vicinanza reveals a startling contrast: the tranquility of three cities set against Russia’s bombardment of Kyiv.
Developed with dancer and choreographer Stefanie Noll, Witness brings those soundscapes into dialogue with the body. It is technology in service of testimony, compassion, and empathy.

The nature of innovation
We are already
living technology.
The body senses, adapts, remembers, and responds. So do forests, rivers, coral systems, and communities. Nature is not the opposite of technology. It is our first teacher.
That understanding brings responsibility. We must ask what a tool consumes, what it changes, who can sustain it, and what kind of world it helps create.
The collaborative intelligence
Listening is
shared practice.
